INGREDIENTS
½ cup butter
¾ cup brown sugar
6-8 slices pineapple
maraschino cherries
1 cup sifted MAYA Cake Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
5 pieces egg yolks
2 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup sugar
5 egg whites
½ cup sugar
PROCEDURE
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Melt butter in an 8 inch round pan. Over this, sprinkle the sugar then arrange the pineapple slices and maraschino cherries. Set aside.
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- Beat egg yolks with cold water and vanilla until thick.
- Gradually add sugar and beat until lemon-colored.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
- Add sugar and continue beating until stiff.
- Fold egg yolks alternately with flour mixture into beaten egg whites.
- Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Invert on a serving platter.
