Magical Soda Can Cakes

For kids, October can mean only one thing — Halloween!

Instead of going for scary, spooky ghosts and goblin cake themes, let’s opt for something more unique — something that involves magic!

I’m not talking about  wizards, or waving wands in the air. This is about modern day “magic.”  And what can be more magical than baking a cake using only 2 ingredients?

All you need to make some magic in the kitchen is a box of cake mix and some soda. They act as substitutes to the eggs and oil that you would usually add to make your batter. In fact, you can use any flavor cake mix, and combine it with different kinds of soda, for unique results.

Here are a few soda and cake mix recipes that we’ve come up with. Give them a try and tell us what you think.

Cola + MAYA Decadence Devil’s Food Cake Mix
Add a little bit of cola to the mix and “Presto Change-o”! You have one real ooey, gooey and chocolatey cake that everyone will love.

Lemon or Lime Soda + MAYA Pancake and Baking Mix
Looking for something sweet and zesty? Your wish is our command.

Lemon or Lime Soda
Orange Soda + MAYA Decadence Fudge Brownie Mix
This unlikely combo results in a creamy, orangey, fudge cake delight that will satisfy your cravings faster than you can say “Abracadabra”!

Orange Soda
No need to pull out rabbits from a hat. These soda and cake mix fusions are all the magic that you need to amuse and satisfy your hungry audience.

An extra treat that comes with this trick is that using soda instead of oil, eggs, and water, also reduces the fat in your cake, which gives you tender, moist and chewy crumbs. Diet sodas may also be used to further reduce the total calories, if that’s what you prefer.

Otherwise, with a flick of the wrist and a “Sim Sala Bim”, we bid you a “Happy Halloween” and hope you and your family enjoy these delicious, and magical concoctions that we made just for you.
