Graveyard Cake



1 pack MAYA Decadence Yellow Cake Mix 520g
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup + 1 tablespoon water
3 pieces eggs

Butter Icing:
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon  vanilla
¾ cup  unsweetened cocoa powder
2 2/3 cups confectioners’sugar, sifted
¼ cup milk

Royal Icing:
225 grams confectioners’ sugar
1 egg white
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
food color (green, red, black, orange)





Prepare yellow cake mix (oil, water and eggs) as to package directions. Pour mixture into greased square pan 9×9 inches. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. While cake is baking, prepare frosting and decorations.

Prepare frosting: Cream butter and vanilla in a small bowl with mixer at medium-low speed. Mix until completely creamed together. Alternating with half portion of cocoa and half of the confectioners’ sugar and milk, beating at medium speed until creamy. You may not use all the milk, depending on your desired consistency. Set aside.

Prepare royal icing: In a mixer bowl, beat all ingredients together at low speed for 7 to 10 minutes until smooth. Set aside.

To assemble: Frost the top and sides of the cake with the butter icing. Decorate cake as appropriate using royal icing.
