Celebrating Valentine’s

These days, Valentine’s Day is typically associated with heart-shaped chocolates, flowers, and all kinds of cheesiness. But there’s actually far more to it than people know.

The legend dates all the way back to Roman times. Although several versions exist, one common thread is that Fr. Valentine, in defiance of Emperor Claudius’ edict, made it his mission to secretly marry young couples within the Christian church. For his “crime”, Valentine was imprisoned and eventually martyred. He was canonized and became known as the patron saint of lovers we all know today.

The Maya Kitchen is all about spreading the love in the best way we know how: with simply delicious food! And what better way to celebrate his memory than with several Valentine-related classes to bring you closer to the one you love?

On January 27, 2018, Saturday, from 9AM to 1PM, we have a Valentine Baking Special. This will be a hands-on, group workshop where you learn to bake Chocolate Walnut Opera Torte, Fondant Covered Heart Cake, Elegant Blueberry Torte, and Strawberry Cream Tart. Fee for this class is P2000.

Next is Cooking for Two on February 10, 2018, Saturday, 9AM to 1PM. An early Valentine celebration special cooking class, you and your special someone can treat each other to a full course meal for two. For only P3000 per couple, you will learn to make Parmesan Tomato Soup, Easy Potato Muffin, Seared Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce, Garlic Bacon Scallop Spaghetti, and Cream Cheese Cupcakes.

We also have a Bake Magic Together Valentine Edition class on February 10, 2018 from 9AM to 12NN. Spend a unique Saturday morning baking to your heart’s content together with those most dear to you. After all, what better expression of love is there than family?
