These days, Valentine’s Day is typically associated with heart-shaped chocolates, flowers, and all kinds of cheesiness. But there’s actually far more to it than people know.
The legend dates all the way back to Roman times. Although several versions exist, one common thread is that Fr. Valentine, in defiance of Emperor Claudius’ edict, made it his mission to secretly marry young couples within the Christian church. For his “crime”, Valentine was imprisoned and eventually martyred. He was canonized and became known as the patron saint of lovers we all know today.
The Maya Kitchen is all about spreading the love in the best way we know how: with simply delicious food! And what better way to celebrate his memory than with several Valentine-related classes to bring you closer to the one you love?
