INGREDIENTS
Dough:
1 1/2 cups MAYA All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 whole eggs
1 egg yolk
oil for deep fat frying
Syrup:
1/2 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon vinegar (optional)
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped cashew nuts
PROCEDURE
Mix flour, baking powder, eggs and egg yolk. Knead until dough is smooth and fine.
With a rolling pin, roll out into a rectangle 1/8 inch thick. Cut into strips 4 inches long and 1 inch wide. Lay 2 strips together and make a knot loosely in the middle.
Heat oil until very hot. Deep fry the knotted strips until golden brown and expanded. Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until it spins a thread. Prepare syrup.
When syrup is ready, dip each fried knotted strip in syrup. Then quickly roll in chopped cashew nuts.
