INGREDIENT
Topping
2 green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
Crust
2 cups MAYA All-Purpose Flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter, softened
¼ cup water
egg wash ( 1 egg yolk + 2 tablespoons milk)
¼ cup sugar
1 cup strawberry jam or marmalade
PROCEDURE
Prepare topping

(K) Combine apple slices, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon powder in a pan.

Cook for a few minutes until coating adheres to the apple slices. Allow to cool.
Prepare crust

Preheat oven to 350°F/177°C. Grease a cookie sheet and line with parchment paper. Set aside.

(K) Combine all ingredients for the crust. Mix until a soft dough is formed.

(K) Roll the dough until ¼-inch thick. Cut the dough using a 6-inch diameter cookie cutter.

(K) Gently lift the sides of the dough to make a wall to enclose the filling after baking. Brush outside of the dough with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.

Place on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Cool and set aside.
To Assemble

(K) Get one piece of pre-baked crust and place approximately 2 tablespoons of strawberry jam or strawberry marmalade at the center.

(K) Decorate with cooked apples slices on top.
