Ingredients

For the cookies:

  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups Maya All-Purpose Four

For the icing:

  • 4 teaspoons Ovasil (egg white powder)
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar

Instructions

Prepare the cookies:

  1. In a bowl, cream the butter and both sugars together using a wooden spoon until fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and the vanilla and mix evenly.
  3. Add the salt and baking powder and mix again.
  4. Add the flour, 1 cup at a time until the dough holds together and no longer sticks on the side of the bowl.
  5. Roll out into ¼ of an inch using a rolling pin and cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
  6. Bake at 350⁰F oven temperature for about 10 minutes. Cool completely before putting decorative icing.

Prepare the icing:

  1. Mix ovasil and water in a mixer bowl. Let it bloom for about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time and mix on medium just until stiff peak thick.
  4. Color as desired. Water can also be added to thin the icing.
