Butterless Double Chocolate Brownie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 piece medium sized avocado, mashed
  • 1/4 + 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup MAYA All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350⁰F/177⁰C. Grease and line a 9x5-inch rectangular pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave for 15 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix together avocado and brown sugar until blended. Add egg, maple syrup and melted chocolate. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Combine sifted dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour mixture into prepared pan and level with a knife.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or toothpick inserted in the center comes out nearly clean. Let it rest in baking dish for 5 minutes and cool further on a cooling rack.

Recipe Notes

Serving Options: Drizzle top with melted dark chocolate.

Healthy tip: Butter is replaced with avocado a fruit rich in monounsaturated fats.
